Job Description:
Einstein Pluripotent Stem Cell Center is looking for a technician to contribute to our stem cell research program. Responsibilities will include cell culture and operation of complex equipment such as an HPLC and liquid handlers. This position will require alternate weekends and some holidays. Must maintain tissue cultures and support various experiments.
Production of undifferentiated hES cells and characterization of human pluripotent cells. Differentiation of human pluripotent cells, training in maintenance and differentiation of stem cells.
Run HPLC samples.
Assist in molecular biology experiments as needed.
Feed cultures on alternate weekends and holidays.
Clean incubators and water bath monthly.
Prepare sterile pipets, gelatin and other reagents.
Check and inspect cultures, media and reagents.
ES cell maintenance: feeding and passaging.
Prepare variety of media for different cell cultures.
Aliquot: serum, numerous cytokines, etc.
Requirements:
Bachelors in a Related Science required or equivalent skills and experience required. M.S. strongly preferred.
0-2 years experience required, 1 to 2 years in general lab work and cell culture preferred.
Background in Molecular Biology a plus.
Must be able to calculate concentrations and prepare reagents correctly.
Organizational skills, detailed oriented, record keeping and initiative required.
